Visiting Bay Cottage this year is going to be a bit different from previous years!
We take the threat of COVID-19 very seriously and have implemented various changes to keep both our guests and us safe.
For instance, when you book, you will need to pay the full balance by card 7 days before arrival, either over the telephone or online. If you book 8 or more days before arrival, we’ll need a non-refundable deposit equivalent to the first night’s stay at the time of booking. The remainder of the balance needs to be paid 7 days before arrival. If you book 7 or less days before arrival, we’ll need the full amount by card when you book. Please visit Policies for our Transfer and Cancellation conditions.
You’ll also need to order your Breakfast, when you make your reservation. Click on the link to see what is available to order!
We’ll also ask you for an estimated time of arrival between 2 pm and 6 pm eg 2pm – 2.30pm. This is so that you don’t arrive at the same time as another guest.
Check in will be swift! Please DON’T ring the doorbell! When you arrive, please call us on 01803 525 729 and let us know you are here. If we don’t pick up the phone, please leave a clear message with your full name and your room number. Please be patient. As soon as Anna has put on PPE, she will open the door to you.
Anna will explain about the room keys and give you directions to your room. You will need to take your own luggage to your room as we’re not able to do that for you at this time.
We will be cleaning stair rails and door handles regularly in the common areas, particularly between guest arrivals and after breakfast. We’re also thoroughly cleaning the Breakfast Room daily to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
We’re asking guests to bring their rubbish bags down from their rooms at breakfast time. There will be a bin in the hall between 0830 and 0900 for rubbish bags. If guests would like their mugs/tumblers/spoons replaced, we’re asking them to bring their used items down to the hall at breakfast.
Once Anna has finished serving you breakfast, she will supply you with fresh mugs/tumblers/spoons as well as toiletries and beverage tray items. If you want to amend or cancel your breakfast order, please let us know 24 hours in advance!
In order to comply with the 1m+ social distancing rule, we’ll only have a maximum of three rooms open at any one time. This allows us to position three of the tables in the breakfast room so that guests don’t come into close contact with each other.
We’re serving breakfast between 0830 and 0900 each day. There will be hand santizer available for you to use both in the hall and the breakfast room.
Please understand that while COVID-19 is a threat, we won’t be carrying out our usual daily cleans. The towels provided on arrival won’t be replaced during your stay. Please make sure you hang them up between use and when you leave, on the hooks/rails provided.
When guests leave, we’re simply asking them to leave their room keys on the tray on the shelf in the hall and to vacate their room before 10am on the day of their departure.
Once a guest has vacated their room, we open the window and then lock the room up for 72 hours. This is to ensure that if the guest has come into contact with someone carrying COVID-19 that the virus dies before we start cleaning.
After 72 hours we thoroughly clean the room, throwing away all unused toilet paper, toiletries and beverage tray items. Towels and linen are washed at 60 degrees and both the bedroom and the en suite are sterilised.
Please be aware that we’re currently not providing one night stays. We are also no longer available for last minute or same day bookings. Please book at least 48 hours in advance of your arrival date. Discounts ARE available when you book direct through us and stay for 3 nights.
We hope that the threat of COVID-19 will soon be over and look forward to seeing you soon!
