Traditional English

Here at Bay Cottage we provide a Traditional English Breakfast.

Traditional Breakfast – Fried Bread, Fried Egg, Black Pudding, Tomato, Bacon, Sausage, Mushrooms, Beans

Just what does a Traditional English Breakfast consist of? Watch our video at Full English!

Our breakfast is as close to Traditional English as we can make it. Bacon, of course, is very important, as are sausage and black pudding. All the components of the breakfast are fried and we shallow fry everything – except for the baked beans. We think they’d taste very odd if we fried them!

We also provide fried tomatoes (fresh ones only – we don’t do tinned tomatoes!), fried mushrooms and fried bread. The baked beans we cook in a pan, not a microwave. We don’t deep fat fry anything. Everything that is fried is cooked in vegetable oil so the food flavour remains strong.

Sometimes we’re asked for hash browns but we don’t feel they belong on a plate of traditional English food. As hash browns originated in New York, we feel they belong to an American breakfast.

Mini Menu – Vegetarian/Lactose-free – Mushrooms, Poached Egg, Beans

Don’t forget that if you prefer a smaller breakfast, you can design your own plate with our Mini Menu. And if you want a “healthier” option, we also provide cereal and toast. We can also provide you with a vegetarian “fry up” as well as breakfasts suitable for vegans, gluten intolerant and lactose intolerant diets.

Please note that as we have limited capacity in our kitchen, we are unable to provide a Continental Breakfast or Fruit or Yoghurt.
